Ferguson Dental Associates has been caring for Montclair for over 75 years, and Dr. Ferguson is a third generation dentist joining the practice in 1997. His path began with a degree in philosophy from Johns Hopkins University, followed by graduating first in his class from the University of Maryland Dental School. Advanced post-graduate training at York Hospital deepened his clinical and surgical experience. Along the way he has earned honors in periodontics and preventive dentistry, built advanced expertise in implant and cosmetic dentistry through years of continuing education, and become a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Mountainside Hospital also named him its “Attending of the Year.”

That record has not gone unnoticed by colleagues. New Jersey Monthly’s 2026 Top Dentists list is chosen by peer vote, and Dr. Ferguson is among the dentists recognized.

Dr. Ferguson has given his time to Montclair for decades, serving on the boards of the Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence and the local American Red Cross chapter, supporting scholarship funds, and coaching youth lacrosse and soccer. He is also a past president and current board member of the Western Essex Dental Association, where he maintains strong relationships and a network with the best specialists in the area, and continues to learn and grow his skills in the dental profession.

Dr. Ferguson, along with our entire clinical staff, visits local preschool and elementary classes to promote dental health among our youngest patients and community members, a tradition for more than 30 years. Ferguson Dental Associates also remains active and local, taking part in Montclair community events, festivals, arts, and culture.
